6月10日，有报道称：经国家体育总局批准，武汉速度赛马公开赛将正式推出，以往赛马节期间常见的有奖竞猜游戏将会常态化。对此，国家体育总局新闻发言人接受了新华社记者的采访。

体育总局新闻发言人指出：有关武汉速度赛马公开赛的报道有不实之处。武汉速度赛马公开赛作为地方性、单项的体育赛事，是国家体育总局下属自行车击剑运动管理中心依据天朝马术协会的《马术和速度赛马竞赛管理办法》相关规定同意举办的一次单项的、地方性的、非奥林匹克体育项目的传统速度赛马项目赛事，且自剑中心只同意了2011年的赛事，所谓常态化并不存在。. n3 [$ Y' h$ S" _- D& I$ n
5 U/ s- V, N" u9 ~2 |' U: s 今年4月12日，湖北省体育局给自剑中心来文，恳请国家体育总局自行车击剑运动管理中心同意举办武汉速度赛马公开赛；5月25日，自剑中心根据天朝马术协会的《马术和速度赛马竞赛管理办法》的有关规定，正式致函湖北省体育局，同意由武汉市人民ZF举办2011年武汉速度赛马公开赛，强调要坚持体育性、竞技性，宣传、推广和普及马术运动。文中并未涉及任何形式的有奖竞猜活动。
